The AdS/CFT correspondence is a powerful tool which has emerged from string theory. This correspondence relates gauge field theories in d spacetime dimensions to theories of gravity in d+1 dimensions. Being a strong weak duality, the correspondence offers a method of obtaining exact results in strongly coupled field theories. In the last few years the correspondence has found many applications, touching on fields as diverse as heavy ion collisions, the quantum hall effect, fluid dynamics, black holes and superconductivity. This program aims to bring together experts in this rapidly evolving field in order to discuss and explore state of the art techniques and developments.
