June 7th - 12th, 2009* Lewiner Institute Seminar Room Technion, Haifa, Israel and Weizmann Institute of Science, Rehovot, Israel The workshop will focus on the statistical mechanics of interacting systems far from thermal equilibrium. In recent years a variety of models have been introduced and studied leading to new understanding of properties of such systems. These have revealed interesting types of behaviors which do not exist under equilibrium conditions. In particular, progress has been made in understanding fluctuations, phase transitions and collective phenomena in these systems. Following these developments one can attempt to address fundamental questions of generality. Bringing together leading experts in this field we expect that new outlooks and future directions will emerge. * 6-9th June, Technion; 10-12th June, Weizmann Organizer: Yariv Kafri, Technion; David Mukamel, Weizmann Coordinators: Technion—Liz Yodim (liz@physics.technion.ac.il) Weizmann—Perla Zalcberg (Perla.Zalcberg@weizmann.ac.il) |
